Pacific Air Cargo Offers
Kama`aina A Better Way to Fly Valuable Possessions
With the cost of shipping soaring and airline fuel surcharges causing
passenger airlines to add on high baggage handling fees, local company
Pacific Air Cargo says there's a silver lining behind this cloud: kama`aina
rates for air shipping between Honolulu and Los Angeles, either direction.
Pacific Air Cargo offers a 20%
discount to kama`aina and a 50% discount to military on all items it ships.
Regular rates to ship cars, for instance are $2,000 from Honolulu and $4,000
to $6,000 from Los Angeles. The company also offers a flat rate to ship
surfboards of $125 and golf clubs, $50. On the average, shippers can expect
to save up to 55% over what the airlines are charging to transport
surfboards and golf clubs.
Pacific Air Cargo is utilized for shipping art, pets, bicycles, animals of
all kinds, including zoo animals and once, even a whale bound for Sea Life
Park. With cargo such as a whale, there was an attendant flying with it,
spraying the animal to keep it moist during the duration of the flight.
According to President/CEO Beti Ward, not only are rates discounted for
kama`aina and military at PAC, the company prides itself on personal
attention and careful handling of the most precious cargo. "Cargo is our
business," says Ward. "We just handle items better and with more care, plus
we're able to offer our kama`aina customers quick shipping at a considerable
discount."
If you're shipping, you can drive your items right up to the front door at
Los Angeles or Honolulu International Airport before you board your
passenger flight. "You hand it to us, we handle it with care, and it doesn't
cost you an arm and a leg," says Pacific Air Cargo Vice President Tanja
Janfruechte.
Janfruechte, who works out of the LAX office, says Pacific Air Cargo's rates
are highly competitive and their offices are located close to the passenger
airline terminals. "Convenience, careful handling, and a real cost savings
are what the customer can expect to receive," she says.
"We're able to give our customers a better rate because air cargo is what we
do," says CEO/President Beti Ward. "Plus we provide extra special handling
and care and excellent customer service. This is our business model," says
Ward.
